The Marvelous Wonderettes Review

Picture
This past weekend, Heartland Productions premiered The Marvelous Wonderettes at the Columbia Ballroom in Downtown Lafayette. The Marvelous Wonderettes takes you to the 1958 Springfield High School prom where we meet the Wonderettes, four girls with hopes and dreams as big as their crinoline skirts! As we learn about their lives and loves, we are treated to the girls performing such classic ‘50s and ‘60s songs as “Lollipop,” “Dream Lover,” “Stupid Cupid,” “Lipstick on Your Collar,” “Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me,” “It’s My Party,” "Heatwave," and over 20 other classic hits! You’ve never had this much fun at a prom and you will never forget The Marvelous Wonderettes—a must-take musical trip down memory lane!

Audience members also participate throughout the evening as they cast their vote for prom queen. The audience members’ options among the Wonderettes are perfectionist Missy (Caitlin Benner), tom boy Betty Jean (Kate Martin), lovable Suzy (Amanda Walker), or gorgeous Cindy Lou (Sarah Weaver). People may also be pulled up onto the stage by the Wonderettes for a song or two!

The production features professional performances and talented vocals by Caitlin Benner, Kate Martin, Amanda Walker, and Sarah Weaver. The audience feels transported back to the 50s and 60s as they relive the classic songs sung to perfection by each member of the cast. Sarah Weaver wows the audience with her rendition of “Son of a Preacher Man” and Caitlin Benner devolves everyone into laughter as she performs, “Secret Love”. Nearly every moment is filled with laughter and fun!

Please bring your family and friends to this hilarious and endearing production. The show continues next weekend on June 6th, 7th, and 8th. To purchase and reserve tickets online, click here.
