2009 Spring Gallery Walk May 15

2009 Spring Gallery Walk May 15

Join your friends and neighbors for an evening of the arts! Tippecanoe Arts Federation proudly presents the second of the 2009 Season of Gallery Walks. The Spring Walk will take place from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m. on Friday, May 15th. Over 20 participating venues from downtown Lafayette and West Lafayette will be featuring the arts. Regional artists exhibit their original artwork in downtown businesses while the Citybus trolley provides quick transport from hilltop to hilltop. The Walks have become an anticipated tradition over the years, bringing hundreds to the downtown area. Come and enjoy the sights, the sounds, and the ambience of downtown Greater Lafayette!

The Gallery Walks were conceived and begun by the Tippecanoe Arts Federation nine years ago as a fun and relaxing way for residents from Tippecanoe and surrounding counties to visit Lafayette and appreciate local architecture, culture, and artistic talent.

The Spring Walk is made possible through the generous sponsorship of Caterpillar and WBAA Radio.

Tippecanus Rex

The (un)natural history of Tippecanoe County has come to the Tippecanoe Arts Federation. In conjunction with Purdue Galleries, the Tippecanoe Arts Federation presents Tippecanus Rex through May 10.

Purdue Galleries director Craig Martin says, "Tippecanus Rex" is about creativity and imagination from people of all ages in this area. It’s a chance to know and celebrate (and maybe make up) the history of what we are and to exaggerate and Build the big myths of Tippecanoe County."

"The project is meant to be whimsical and imaginative, teasing visitors with mythical beasts, imagined histories and fake statistics. It also emphasizes the contributions and new creative works of artists, writers and performers in this area."

Tippecanoe Arts Federation director Tetia Lee says, “This show epitomizes the idea of community spirit as it invites every citizen, big or small, to partake in this creative endeavor."

Don't miss out on seeing this great show and wonderful imaginations of local artists.
